Don’t “Sell Christmas” KEEP
IT ‘USA’
You may think that the title of this
editorial is a little harsh, but as I was putting my thoughts together to
focus on the Christmas shopping season, I received
an e-mail that really got me thinking. Has America Sold Out?
America the strongest Country in the world with bragging rights to inventing
and producing some of the greatest products the world has ever known. Like
the first car, the first flight in an airplane, the space shuttle, etc. etc.
Americans were working with pride in their jobs and their Country. They made
this country Strong.
Has the Dream of our forefathers, for us and our Nation been lost in the
name of GREED? We know that corporate leaders and politicians have worked
together to increase world trade which has cost us good paying jobs, all to
make a quick buck.
Have we become a selfish society? All in some part touched by GREED as we
all tend to purchase foreign made goods due to cheaper cost in some cases
and reap the True cost in Loss of American Jobs. Hard working Americans
being laid off after 20 to 40 years of service to companies, who they made a
household name world wide, example Levi, Lee, Westinghouse, Black & Decker,
Stanley, etc. etc.
Where are these jobs going? Mostly China, a communist country totally
opposite from our beliefs, principles of Freedom, human rights and dignity.
Will America’s GREED make China richer and stronger to come back and HAUNT
us? What about India and Pakistan, both with nuclear testing capability? Is
it in the best interest of our Nation to continue to move our jobs and
technology and put more money into dangerous hands? Are we at the same time
weakening ourselves?
As corporate America continues to move jobs overseas to capture cheaper
labor and we continue to buy, the smaller business competitors will be
pushed out by the Big Box stores such as Wal-mart. Once these large
retailers get control of the market, we can say Good Bye to cheaper prices.
They can then sell at whatever price they choose because there is no
competition.
The most Horrifying question of all… If the Iraq War turns into a larger war
involving more countries, would these countries that now control our
production plants and service jobs be with us? Would we have the money,
resources and time to get our plants up and running? Will GREED cost us our
beliefs, our way of life and our great heritage and sovereignty?
These are very serious questions we need to ask ourselves, as a society, as
parents, grandparents and as American workers in all jobs and professions.
As Americans we all need to join together in one VOICE and STOP buying goods
that don't say MADE IN THE USA. Write the major retailers and ask them to
stop buying foreign made products. Write to companies and ask them to stop
producing foreign made products. Write your Senators, Representatives and
the President - tell them to put America First, no more Free Trade, but FAIR
Trade.
Most important of all when buying your Christmas gifts this holiday season,
STAND UP, SUPPORT and FIGHT BACK by buying only MADE IN THE USA. Don’t sell
America’s Christmas, KEEP IT AT HOME.
